SO Fourteen comes to local charity’s rescue

Southampton’s new coworking space, SO Fourteen, has come to Wessex Cancer Trust’s rescue after hearing its fundraising and office team has already been without the Internet or telephones for over a week due to a problem with the charity’s provider.

The charity, which provides free and local support to anyone living with cancer in Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, needs to raise £32,000 every week to support its six cancer support centres.

After appealing for a temporary home, Alex Hilton-Baird, SO Fourteen’s Founder and Managing Director, came to the rescue and offered to host the entire team for free at their coworking space at Woollen Hall in Castle Way, Southampton.

Sofie Bennett, Wessex Cancer Trust’s Head of Development, said:

“For a charity which relies on voluntary donations and fundraising to thrive, we can’t survive without the Internet or telephones, and when everything went down it was a real emergency for us. We’re so grateful to Alex and his team for coming to our rescue.”

Alex Hilton-Baird, said:

“We’ve created a modern and friendly coworking space for everyone to enjoy, and so collaboration and community is therefore key to our ethos. When we heard that Wessex Cancer Trust, which does so much good work for local people, had no Internet or phones we wanted to step in and help them.”

Wessex Cancer Trust’s team is hoping to return to its office in Chandler’s Ford by the end of this week.
